Anne

(2009) archive film, archive sound, synthesis and processing - 4'

Anne is a short film created from the only known footage of Anne Frank that was recently discovered. She was captured incidentally on film for only 10 seconds, looking out of the window of her home during the celebration of a neighbor's wedding.

The processed vocal was taken from a Folkways archival recording of songs sung in concentration camps. This song "Bergen Belsen Moje", was one that Anne Frank probably heard at the concentration camp after she was captured. The lyrics speak about the typhus outbreak in the camp that she succumbed to, just a few weeks before the camp was liberated.
